The main dining room is located at the entrance of the restaurant and overlooks the lovely Victoria Street. It displays antique French oak panelling and can seat up to 35 guests.

Our lovely mezzanine seating overlooks the main dining room and open kitchen. Our guests love to sit here and interact with the Head Chef. It can seat up to 12 guests.
This space is elegantly dressed with French oak panelling, art work and arch windows.

Atta Brings Contemporary Indian to Albert Park!
Atta’s head chef and co-owner, Harry Dhanjal, is entirely self-taught. He and business partner Brij Patel also designed the Albert Park venue themselves, which is housed in a heritage-listed building, is almost gallery-like in feel. There are timber trusses running along the high ceiling, grand arched windows, and sleek modern photographs lining otherwise sparse walls.

Delivering cooking, art and design on the plate is the mission of Chef Harry Dhanjal – keeping dishes simple with a four-flavour profile.
Heading the kitchen at Chef-hatted Atta Restaurant on Victoria Avenue in Albert Park, Harry grew up in India under the watchful kitchen eye of his Mother and Grandmother, listening to stories related to dishes and how they evolved over time.

At Atta in Albert Park, waterbath meets tandoor
Indian gets a modernist makeover at Atta, where waterbath meets tandoor. Housed in a heritage-listed Greek taverna, there's ballpoint artwork by Laith McGregor on the whitewashed walls and culinary artwork on the gigantic white plates. Here, tandoori aloo is a tower of spice-infused potatoes, and your orthodox cottage cheese ras-malai is served with freeze-dried raspberry tuiles.

The Verdict
It feels like Melbourne’s Indian scene is getting a high-concept shake up. Out with the Butter Chicken, in with the crispy skinned salmon, confit tomatoes and mustard-infused coconut sauce. It’s probably long overdue. Don’t get us wrong—there’ll always be times that call for a plate-sized garlic naan—but it’s cool to see chefs pushing the curry envelope a little.

It’s a typically murky Melbourne winter evening when we arrive at Atta Restaurant.
The modern Indian restaurant is a surprise on the outside. Set amongst a hotch-potch of converted terraces and new units, it’s housed in a striking bluestone-fronted building with a simple white sign, the only indication that you’re in the right place. Step closer and you can spy a bright, sleek interior thorough its windows.
